Hi Chris, We are going to building our first project in Swaziland in April-May 2009.

I am looking at the feasabilty of building these zero energy homes in Swaziland and South Africa, which is why I visited Mike in Taos, we hope to develop some kits for self builders in Africa once we have perfected an African friendly design.

I suggest you attend a build so you can learn the techniques
Mike Reynolds is planning to visit at the end of August 2008 to view the site. If you are interested you are more than welcome to come along.

    hi everybody,
I just wanted to let you know I m more than interested in your project,in as much as no current project is taking place in europe for the moment.I already tried to register to the volonteer programme on your web site, but it doesn t seem to be working as I didnt get any answer yet.I would like also to have more precise information concerning the dates you are thinking about for the beggining of the session ,the time you think it will take for its realisation, and the work conditions.
thank you for letting me know so that I can start to think about it more seriously,
    mickael,

    Hi,

My wife and myself plan to build an Earthship in South-Africa this year. Further we would be intrested to volunteer for your next building session.

We have also been in contact with Mike Reynolds.

Can you give us more information about the water and solar systems you are going to use?

    Regards

    Hi
There is an earthship project in Glasgow starting 13 May 2009, which will be looking for volunteers and will also be running workshops for prospective builders/volunteers.
Botswana is also being investigated by some contacts I know.

Check out http://www.earthship-france.com for an experience of staying in a european earthship

    Hi people,
Sorry about the lateness in replying. I was tied up in Nigeria on a very complicated project. I am now back in South Africa. The site appears to be getting very busy now so I shall be sure to keep you posted every few days.
We have found it very slow going in Swaziland, the weather has really compounded the problem with our Swazi manager being rained in for Jan and Feb. We are therefore going to concentrate on getting the basic road and building materials completed during this dry period. The Solar and water systems are going to be assembled in the US and shipped to Durban later this year.

Hi you mention you are looking for volunteers for the staging?
What would be expected of the volunteers and what would the arrangements be for place to stay, food travel etc, or is there no help with this.

    Please bear with us.
There is accomodation and bar about 4Km from the site.
We are in the process of sorting out vehicles at the moment.
It appears that the rain only breaks from June-July 31st. We just had a downpour on the 1st August that washed out a road so I am being very careful how we plan this.
I am thinking that the first volunteers will be neede April 2010.
